Nissan's Dead

Kyle's Nissan truck died today. It needs a new engine that costs $1100. Rather than continue servicing an old truck, we now, most definitely need to buy a new car asap.

Today we went through that wonderful process of trying to apply. We'll hear back tomorrow to see if it will work out.

Austin had the best weather today, a cold front came in and it felt like spring! I could not believe it. Beautiful day!

And I'm feeling less stressed about the first day. The atmosphere amongst the staff at the school where I work is really positive at the moment. Everyone wants to support these kids and make the school a better place. There's good energy going on, and I'm hoping it's not just the concept of a fresh start, but a deeper transition that is occuring. I'm feeling good about the first day, at least right now.

I heard the U.S. has a new poet laureate - Ted Kooser. I heard him read a poem on NPR, you can hear it at http://www.npr.org/display_pages/features/feature_3848265.html?place=home02. Sounds like it might be some good work, I mean he is the poet laureate...duh! I intend to check it out.

And now I know how to spell laureate...whoohoo!!

Hamsters for Kerry

Goooo rodents!!!!

http://www.hamstersforkerry.com/

That's all. I'm really hot (due to crappy a/c unit) and can't fall asleep (due to school starting in 5 days, and having nothing planned for the 1st day).

Kyle and I test drove some cars today, Nissan Sentra and Toyota Matrix and Corrolla (sp?) . I think decided on the matrix. It's a pretty sweet ride.

A Stone Dragon

After 5 minutes of lesson planning, I needed a break and decided to take a dragon quiz. Turns out I'm a Stone Dragon.

To take the quiz...http://dragonhame.com

I'm tired of unpacking boxes.

and my inner dragon is a ....
Stone DragonIn the war between good and evil, a Stone Dragon tends to walk the fine line of Neutrality. When it comes to the powers of Chaos vs. those of Law and Order, your inner dragon walks a fine line between Law and Chaos. As far as magical tendancies, a Stone Dragon's nature does not lend itself well to the ways of Magic.During combat situations, a true Stone Dragon prefers to defeat opponents by the use of spells and other tactics.

Dragon Description:
The Stone Dragon varies in color, ranging from a dark grey to nearly white. As it's name implies, it's texture is stone like, and often it's coloring will actually resemble marble, granite or some other indigenous rock.

The Stone Dragon builds it's home deep underground, using it's powerful claws to scoop earth and stone away. Did you hear me? Yes, it uses its claws to dig through stone, which also makes it a powerful fighter in close combat.

Luckily for most would be enemies, the stone dragon lives far enough in seclusion that seldom does it have a need to use either it's claws, or it's devastating lava breathe weapon.Even though the Stone Dragon lives far under the earth, it is quite social and often makes friends and allies with the deep dwarves that share it's habitat.

This Dragons favorite elements are: Granite and Loyal Friendships

Very Full

I'm very full right now. I ate at a bunch of good restaurants today in Round Top. Kyle says I should be honest and say I only ate two meals. I feel like I ate all day.

Napoleon Dynamite is a new hero of mine. The man is stuck in the 80s. The character, Pedro, also deserves much applause for his role. Yes, he displays stereotypical Latino qualities, alas I am still happy to see people of color in films, even if he uses his thug-esque brothers to help him when an election. Check out the movie, lots of funny moments. Made me regret not ever getting Glamour Shots when I was in junior high.

We have decided to go see Manchurian Canidate tonight. I'm looking forward to it, I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Other than seeing Shakespeare plays the past two days, haven't done much more than that. I was able to meet up with lots of old friends, which was very nice. The Super 8 in Giddings treated Kyle and I great. I did make him trick them by telling him he was staying the night by himself.

The anxiety nightmares about the new school year have begun. Last night, I dreamt I had to teach a class with 30 students, I had two classrooms, and no materials to teach them with.

I talked with an ex-winedale friend of mine today. She is teaching in New York. She said, "Yay, the school flunked all the 7th graders." Supposedly, the little darlings were so horrible, they managed to break 10 teachers. I can honestly say, the school I teach at is not that bad. I'm hopeful.

2 more days till workshops
8 more till the students return

Sushi Boat Attacks

Last night I saw the Bourne Supremacy, it was alright. I had not seen the first one and did not know what to expect. There definitely wasn't much dialog. But Bourne is pretty much a bad-ass. If you have read the books, supposedly it is nothing like it.

We also ate Sushi last night at Umi. It was all very good, except with the hot roll with the japanese mayo on it. Bleck! I almost retched at work today, just thinking about. Could be I hate mayo.

The only tragic part of the meal was that Kyle was hit in the head with the 3 foot sushi boat. He's okay, it was mostly funny, and the waitress felt horrible. Hehe...it was pretty funny.

I worked today for the lovely American Express doing filing to make extra money. I don't know if I could do that for a living again. It's mostly uneventful.

Off to check the news!

Saying Something

I heard someone mention, that unless you have something to say don't bother with a blog.

What a sucko!

I could sit here and argue about how wonderful blogs are, but I don't feel like it. Most people have something to say, and I think being able to keep up with someone else's life from a distance isn't a horrible thing.

I've become real lazy about email. I'll probably get lazy about this too, or just get soo busy I won't be able to keep up.

I think all my friends should get blogs, so I can know when they poop and everything.

Today is another day of packing and unpacking in this suck of all suck weather. I forsee myself packing and unpacking for a couple more weeks.

5 more days till I have to go back to school. cry

Addict

Today I am a blogging addict. This is my second blog site I've created in the past hour. Yes, I have some time on my hands.

Not much, just don't want to go outside, the heat is unbearable.

I love Shakespeare, by the way. We (Poor Tom Productions) just wrapped up Two Gentlemen of Verona on Sunday. It was bloody hot! Both the play and the weather.

Why is Shakespeare still so great?
